Stay Home & Stay Safe | A Guide to Hawaii Homeschool Programs 2020

Aloha everyone! I’ve created this blog for my clients that are looking for alternative schooling options for their children in Hawaii. There are many interesting ideas and homeschool services that are available throughout the State of Hawaii, and some of the schools listed below are also nationwide. Throughout this article, you can read about a variety of Hawaii homeschool options: charter schools, Waldorf-inspired schools, tech-savvy schools, and more. The list includes options from Preschool until 12th grade.

For more detailed information about homeschooling in Hawaii, check out the Hawaii Homeschool Network online and Hawaii’s Homeschool Laws & Requirements.

If you want to find homeschool resources (books, programs, etc) that are new or used, check out the Homeschool Buyers Co-op. The Co-op has over 275,000 member families, and it’s a great source for finding curriculums, physical textbooks, and thousands of resources.

For more information about each school below, just click the title and you’ll be re-directed to each homeschool website. Stay safe, be positive, and enjoy reading!

They understand that every child has different learning patterns, passions, and interests and that’s why they provide customized learning programs for all ages. This is a Waldorf-inspired program that places emphasis on a love of nature, literature, the arts, and play. Blossom & Root also offers Book Seeds programs; STEM-centered, and nature-based mini-unit series.

The curriculum is largely inspired by a traditional philosophy of education that helps teachers teach, and helps students learn. Teachers are empowered to focus on the needs of each student, and the materials that they need to learn. Once the students have grasped what has been taught, new concepts and skills are added in context creating a sense of ‘spiral learning.’ At every level, every student is able to learn, comprehend, and master new learnings. Abeka’s focus to promote a desire for life-long learning in every student.

K12 has been a leader in K-12 grade level online education since 2000. It’s one of the largest homeschool programs in the United States; offering a hands-on curriculum directly into the homes. Their various curriculums allow students to work at their own pace. The courses are created by master teachers, scientists, subject-matter experts, technologists, designers, researchers, and writers. Benefits of this are tailored materials for the age and skill level of each student, interactive activities, plus accurate and engaging content. K12’s quality assurance specialists also incorporate feedback from parents through focus groups, surveys, product testing, and round-table discussions.
